Fashion 1980s and 1990s - Leggings

In the period of 1980s and continuing through the middle of 1990s, casual wear became a popular fashion trend.

Leggings play a big role of this trend. Leggings were typically worn with extra-large sweaters and sweatshirts in the chill months [Autumn-Winter] and then with outsized tee shirts in the warmer months [Sunny seasons – Summer].

This was also well-admired to wear socks of loosely drooping body and sneakers with leggings. Checkered skirts with leggings were also worn with sneakers and slouch socks or with flats or Boat shoes as component of the Modern Look.

Then bike shorts were also more famous under baby doll dresses and short dresses with sneakers and no socks or sneakers with slouch socks.

Most of the girls in grade 12 for gym class would wear black leggings with white slouch socks, athletic sneakers or sneakers and extra-sized tee shirts. Many women wore this style as exercise wear too. A wide range of college girls wore the leggings and slouch socks with sneakers and the dresses with shorts to classes and around campus.

It was also general to see mothers dressed by the side of their daughters in the slouch socks worn over leggings or sweatpants, an extra-large shirt or sweater and athletic shoes.

Soccer shorts were accepted by children and teenagers in the middle of 1980s to the mid of 1990s.

From the late 1980s to the late 1990s shortalls became popular which can be the edition of overalls.

Overalls were the legs of the garment look like those of shorts.

Champion sweatshirts became popular for guys and girls to wear in the late 1980s throughout 1997. In cold season and all the sweatshirts were worn over a colorful turtle-neck.

Leotards, body suits and body shirts also became popular in the late 1980s to late 1990s. They were worn as tops with jeans and skirts.

Opaque tights were very popular in the late 1980s to mid-1990s and could be worn as part of casual wear or formal wear. Other colors of opaque tights such as all shades of blue from sky blue to navy and purple were well-accepted with all females from children and teenagers to adults.
