A whole bunch of parties are coming up and you
do not know what to wear? Be it a formal or an informal occasion, an evening
gown would seal the deal! Evening gowns, also
known as court dresses are long dresses varying from knee length to full length
ones which came up in the 15th century in the Burundian court which
was ruled by Philip the Good, a very fashion conscious person! Since then evening gowns have been ruling both
white tie as well as black tie events!
Choosing the perfect evening gown:
Fashion of Evening Gown |
While buying an evening gown there are certain
things you need to keep in mind. Evening gowns are made of delicate rich
materials like chiffon, velvet and silk. Buy them according to your body shape
and the occasion you would be wearing it to.
There are A-line dresses which are snugly fitted till just below the
chest after which they fall without pleats. Sheath dresses and princess gowns
are fitted options while empire dresses have a loose breezy style. Decide on
the part of the body you want to highlight. A V neck dress would highlight the
chest area while a halter neck dress would leave your back and shoulders
completely open. For the ones gifted with great arms, expose them with a thin
strap or strapless gown. Here’s a piece of advice! Make sure the part you would
be exposing is perfectly waxed and polished! Want to play it sexy? Opt for
dresses with a slit up to your knees or thighs whichever you are comfortable
with and go on and play the peek-a-boo game!

Accessorize your gown to complete the look:
Once you have found your perfect outfit, it’s
time to look for the items that would go with it. Gowns call for heels! Pencil
heels, wedges and peep toes are your best option. The higher the pair of heels
the better it is. If you are afraid to wear high heels, go for medium sized
wedges! Steer clear of slippers! Pearls and diamonds would be your best friends
when going for an evening gown! A long strand of pearls or a diamond choker
would be perfect! Wear single studs if you leave the hair open. If not, you can
go for long earrings. Take a clutch in your hand and you might accompany the
dress with a long coat or a scarf depending on the occasion!
